“Jaclyn Friedlander’s Friends with Fins videos are both educational and entertaining. These short videos are packed full of information, yet capture my students’ attention. That is no small accomplishment as I teach second grade students at Coyote Ridge Elementary in Carrollton, Texas. These videos pique their curiosity and leave them with a few questions. They can be used as an introduction to a science concept or a springboard to research. She definitely challenged them in a way that increased their interest in the subject matter, so that they wanted to know more. Some of my more technical students subscribed to her channel!”

“Jaclyn Friedlander visited our school, Coppergate Elementary, in the Fall. She presented her book, Friends With Fins: The Talent Show to students in grades K-6. She combined the reading of her book with a short video presentation and utilized hands on activities to teach students in a fun, engaging way about the importance of ocean conservation. After each presentation, she encouraged students to ask questions, autographed books, and was very approachable and happy to meet each student.

It is difficult to find authors who can individualize their presentations to meet the needs of a wide range of interest levels in an elementary school setting, but Jaclyn Friedlander was able to do just that! Our students not only learned about the writing and illustrating process, but also gained valuable insight into the importance of protecting our ocean wildlife and the need to stop the pollution of the world’s oceans. I would highly recommend Jaclyn Friedlander as a visiting author.

The preparations for her visit were easy and straightforward as she was incredibly responsive, accommodating and flexible. But more importantly, our students were incredibly engaged and excited about learning.”

“The Friends with Fins videos are perfect for my students. They are short, engaging, and packed with lots of fascinating information. They align with our science standards. I also plan to use the videos in reading workshops as we think about learning from video clips. The way that Jaclyn shares information is accessible to young leaners. There are so many possibilities for these videos.”
